A fantastic Melbourne night lead to brilliant conditions for our second ever BCB Multisport Aquathon at Oak Park Aquatic Centre. Increasing on participants from the first event we had 11 people line up at the start line with a great mix of experience.
There were a few club representatives in Colin, Roy and Adrian who had the elastic laces and transition down to an art but also a large group of sans elastic laces including Shane, Daniel, Chloe, Kate, Nathan, Jack, Sarah and Jeremy that joined in for what was a great night.
The event was marred with some controversy and almost an appeal when the swim distance was changed at the last minute from 250m to 200m. This was unbeknownst to Colin, who swam the extra 50m in the first swim leg putting him behind on the second run leg and resulting in a few comments about people not liking good swimmers! Colin closed the case in the best way possible, by winning the event in a time of 17 minutes 40 seconds. Coming in second with a very impressive 18 minutes 21 was Jeremy followed by Sarah and Adrian who tied for 3rd in 19 minutes 3 seconds.
It was great to have so many new faces take part including people who train at Brunswick and Oak Park facilities and came along to say hi! Great effort by all in what was a very face paced event.
Also following on from the event a few had a good enough time to sign up as BCB members so please make sure you say hi to Kate, Sarah and Jeremy when you see them next!
